Welcome to the Museum!
The museum as it is today began shortly after we opened the business in 1997. We brought in a small militaria collection we already had and added the items that were around in the store and outbuildings. We cleared out three showcases of merchandise, and replaced it with the collection as it was at that point. Customers really responded positively as Military Surplus stores often have interesting items but they tend not to be actually on display in a comprehensive or thought out manner. Over the following years we've been able to add to the collection primarily by way of donations of items. With the move to Grayling in 2018, we had much more space to display the collection and set up the museum proper. We now have over 20 showcases full of items ranging from the Revolutionary War to the present day.
A word about donations:
We are often asked if we accept donations of items and we continue to be humbled by folks bringing in pieces that may have been passed down or acquired but end up "in a box in the attic" as we often hear. We are always thrilled for the opportunity to expand the collection and will gladly accept any donations of materials with the guarantee that they will not be sold.
The museum is appropriate for all ages, and we even keep some "Show & Tell" items handy for when the youngsters visit. We hope you'll drop by soon!
